Explore and search

VegaGraph search turns indexed entity identity and metadata into workspace discovery. The dashboard combines the Overview and Explore experiences with the customer /vegagraph/search API.

Search workflow

  1. Confirm the organization, workspace, and context.
  2. Enter a resource name, fully qualified name, or meaningful metadata term.
  3. Narrow results with available entity type, label, or context filters.
  4. Open a result in Entity 360.
  5. Follow its hierarchy, relationships, or lineage.
Search returns only records visible to the current identity. A zero-result response can mean no match, a context mismatch, an over-restrictive filter, a stale/missing search document, or insufficient permission.

Built-in resource views

VegaGraph exposes convenience projections for common catalog resources such as tables, services, repositories, environments, and KPIs. These views are backed by the same typed graph model; they do not create a separate ownership boundary.

Labels and types

Entity types describe what a resource is. Labels add managed classification. Use both when discovery needs a stable structural filter plus a business or governance dimension.

Search documents

An entity can have a search document derived from its identity and searchable aspect fields. If newly written metadata is not discoverable, check whether its type marks the intended fields as searchable and whether its search document was refreshed. For details after discovery, see Entity 360.
